Using Theatre to Spark Conversation: EMAS Presents "The Fiery Furnace" for Domestic Violence Awareness Month

This October, the Elizabeth Mestnik Acting Studio (EMAS) is doing something meaningful to mark Domestic Violence Awareness Month—bringing Timothy Mason's powerful play The Fiery Furnace to the stage through two special staged readings.

In partnership with the YWCA Glendale and Pasadena's Domestic Violence Supportive Services, EMAS will present this haunting drama on October 17 and 19 at 7:00 p.m. at their North Hollywood location (4713 Lankershim Blvd., CA 91602).

Art as a Catalyst for Change

For EMAS, this production represents more than just a performance—it's part of their ongoing commitment to using theatre as a tool for empathy, conversation, and ultimately, social change. The Fiery Furnace creates a space for audiences to witness, reflect, and consider how they can make a difference in addressing domestic violence in their own communities.

A Free Community Event

Both performances are free and open to the public, though the studio asks that you reserve your spot in advance by emailing director@emasla.com, as seating is limited.

While there's no admission charge, attendees will have the opportunity to donate to the YWCA's essential programs that support survivors and work toward prevention. These contributions directly help strengthen the safety net for those affected by domestic violence in the Glendale and Pasadena areas.

Join the Conversation

Whether you're a theatre lover, a community advocate, or someone looking to better understand this critical issue, these staged readings offer a chance to engage with an important story during a month dedicated to awareness and action.
